Put Your Life in Drive Key #2 Start the Car

Put Your Life in Drive! (1)

Yay, I am excited that last week’s webinar actually happened.  In case you are curious as to why I said that last Thursday we were awakened by an oak tree falling on our house!  This needless to say is not the way you want to start off your morning, but Praise the Lord we were all safe!  However, we weren’t for sure about how the roof had faired.

When daylight finally dawned, we realized how fortunate we were to all be safe.  We had a tree removal company to come to inspect and tell us what we needed.  Again, God protected us because the gentleman knew exactly what to do and how to do it, the only delay was that he couldn’t take the tree off that morning.  He had to wait until the evening.  At twenty minutes to seven, the chainsaws were stopped, the tree was off of the house and yay, you guessed it!  The Facebook Live Series 7 Keys to Put Your Live in Drive was on! It is my hope that you will be encouraged by the live video as I really had to go through something to pull it off!

I would love to hear from you if you are being encouraged by this new series, and personally, invite you to join me for the next Facebook Live Event

Why won’t you just lie down in surrender?

FREE EBOOK Why won’t you just lie down in surrender?

Sometimes do you wish you could just lie down?  You know, on those days, weeks, months or even years when everything within you seems like you are pressing and pushing yourself to make the effort.  Those times make you want to say, “I surrender!”  But why don’t you or why don’t I simply surrender and let life do what it is going to do to us?  Because there is something on the inside that says, “You’ve got this!  You are coming out of this event, this trial, this challenge, bolder and better, not bitter!”

The last entire year of my life has been a huge challenge.  It is a challenge that I took on myself to try to simply be stretched and to go to the next level of what I felt the Lord wants for me. He doesn’t just want us to survive, but to thrive in life! I’ve enrolled in online courses, I’ve been stuck to this computer like glue,  participating in online webinars, youtube videos, digging up resources etc…Everything that I could do to press forward into what I know that the Lord has called me into.  I am determined to thrive, and not just survive, and help others to thrive as well!

How about you?  The pressing that you’ve been doing, is it you, just trying to survive, or is it so that you can thrive?  I think the reason you do not simply surrender, again, is because you know that deep down, you are meant for so much more than just surviving and getting by in life.  God has placed big dreams and a big future in you.  But you may be asking, how do I live it?

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

May I suggest that the hustle of life begins to shift when your thoughts toward what you are doing shifts.  Yes, you may not like where you are right now in life, but you need to realize that this is simply a life lesson, a place where you’re passing through.  It came to pass, not to stay.   The choice is up to you as to whether you will linger where you are not happy, or pass the test and move on to the next challenge.  You must realize that life doesn’t always play fair, but that staying in a place, being upset at what life has thrown you, is not changing your circumstances.  Let’s be honest, maybe your circumstances may never change, but how you think of them, and how you grow in them and even let them change you can change!

Again, my friend, I know that the Lord has put it in you to make it!  To pass the test and move on to thriving, not merely surviving!

Keeping Traditions and Memories Alive!

Keeping Traditions and Memories Alive!
IMG_3027 (5)

I had worked all week doing laundry and bedding to pack into our camper. We loaded our little camper with all the necessities that we thought we would need for an entire week and off we went to one of our favorite camping places in North Georgia, where we met up with my nephew, his wife (my niece) , and two small children.
My husband and our boys are lovers of fishing, so I knew what the week would hold for them and my nephew. The guys fished practically every night, and on two separate occasions went on excursions to fish for trout and finally hit gold the last day. Rainbow trout was what was for supper the last night along with smoked sausage and sauerkraut for those of us who are not necessarily fish lovers! As the guys finally found their little pot of gold, so did my niece and I.
My niece and I on the other hand always go scouting for  different kind of gold nuggets. We love to visit unique little towns full of antiques and thrift stores. This year we found a wonderful little southern town that played out like a fairy tale. The people were very genuine and exceptionally friendly. They asked us if we had visited their natural springs, and suggested that we take water containers to the springs and get all the pure spring water we would like. No charge of course as it was a free resource that the little town was thrilled to have and was built upon! We ate at a little hole in the wall restaurant which immediately became a favorite. This little town so left an impression on us that we returned with our families with water containers in hand, and of course revisited the little shops and yes you guessed it, even the little hole in the wall restaurant that had real southern foods, for example: a bowl of pinto beans, cornbread and collards, plus a drink for a whopping $4.99. This was a town that I will frequent as my family only lives about an hour and a half away from it. Amazing how little nuggets of gold are right under your nose, but if you do not look for them, you probably will not find them.
After dinner, each night we would all gather around to play card games such as Canasta, Skipbo, Uno, and a fast favorite Monopoly Deal. As we took turns gathering in each of our campers, it gave us a great sense of satisfaction as we know that we are creating wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. We hope that we are instilling a love for simplicity and tradition into our children and possibly into their children’s children as this is what our parents instilled in us. The most wonderful memories were of my parents taking us on trips such as these and simply spending time with us. Oh how I wish they were here to see how their grandchildren and great grandchildren love the family traditions that they began with us way back when we were just children.
So what is my point of telling you all about my vacation or why that I thought you would possibly be interested? Simply to encourage you to create memories with your children, grandchildren, and possibly even great-grandchildren that will shape their future family vacations. Create times that will spark beautiful and happy memories in them as they too sit around a camp fire, or gather around a picnic table, or possibly like my family get in a late night of card playing and tell wonderful stories that keep my parents with us and their memories alive!

No more Reruns!

This Church billboard of course is not mine, but I loved it.
I once read that Insanity was defined or quoted as “doing the same thing over and over and expecting change!” I’ve done way too many reruns because I didn’t have to do anything or was too afraid to turn the channel. I sometimes even let others hold the remote of my life, but now it is time for me to get up and change the channel! I am starting with this little blog just to hold myself accountable!

Attitude Adjustments, Do you React or Respond?

Glass half empty or full

I am a firm believer that the kind of life we live depends solely on our attitude.  Please don’t roll those eyes…Yes, this is another blog post talking about your attitudes, but also mine.   Many people are “the glass is half empty” types of people, whereas I am one of the “the glass is half full” types.  Unfortunately, I tend to grate on the last nerve of those half empty types, but really the only difference between me and them is my attitude, right?

I think the differences between the two types of people I mentioned above, is mainly our attitudes toward life.  Our attitude has to do with how we do life in general.  For instance, when unexpected things hit our lives, do we respond to them, or to we react?  I want to describe the difference between a person who lives in response to life, and those who may live in reaction to life.   Please note this is not to say one type is better than the other…my point in it all is simply attitude!   We are never one hundred percent a responder or a reactor.  I think if you’ve read this article to this point, then you will agree with me that we all need attitude adjustments at times so that we can go forward and live life better!

If you are a responder (half full type) to life, when negative things happen, you tend to be able to step back a little and look at the overall situation.  In looking at the whole picture, you then rationalize, “Hey, this thing happened and it wasn’t good, but at least, I am still here and can use by learning from it!” The responders are generally thankful and grateful for what the experience has taught them and can generally move on rather quickly.

The people, who react to life (half empty type) when negative things happen, tend to believe that they should have been able to control or prevent them.  However, when they realize that the negative things came and there wasn’t anything they could do about it, most of the time they take it as a huge loss and as a personal failure. Because of their attitude toward whatever the negative thing was, they tend to become stuck in that place.  Instead of being thankful for what the experience could possibly teach them they become bitter. Some people can never move on.

Nobody has a positive or negative attitude all the time.   However, it is generally our attitudes that determine how long it takes us to go forward in life!
