Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is full of nutrients and enzymes and probiotics because of the process by which it undergoes fermentation not pasteurization.   • Aids in alleviating acid reflux and heartburn by adding 1 tablespoon of (RACV) to 4 ounces of Purified water and drinking after meals.

 

As you can see the benefits of using Raw Apple Cider Vinegar are wonderful and I have only touched on a few. One of my favorite ways to use Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is as a detox. I like Dr. Axe’s Secret Detox recipe! I actually found this detox recipe to also be useful in the relief of my allergies and cold symptoms!

First Signs of Spring! 001

 

Spring is arriving beautifully in the South and I’m itching to get outside! As a kid I remember so well the days warming up after a long cold snowy winter! I am originally from a tiny town in Kentucky that set on the Ohio River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. When spring came, we couldn’t wait to kick our shoes off and go barefoot! After pleading with our Mom, she would finally let us go outside with our bare feet! I remember the sensation of stepping into the lush green prickly cool grass and dirt! What a wonderful experience!

It amazes me that something that gave us so much pleasure as a child now has been found to have been good for us all along, regardless of the many arguments that “we would catch our death of cold!” We obviously never knew about the great benefits!   According to some emerging research from various health professionals going barefoot termed Earthing or Grounding is actually a healthy practice and could have many benefits such as the following:

Reducing inflammation by defusing excess positive electrons

Reducing chronic pain

Improving Sleep (I can vouch strongly for this!)

Increasing Energy (I noticed this also)

Mama’s DIY Maple Sweetened Cookies

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted my DIY recipes, but I wanted to share one of the simplest recipes I’ve concocted to make healthier “sweet” treats for my family!

I must admit that this Mama sometimes has a sweet tooth and unfortunately I haven’t always made great choices in what I chose to eat!  I love sweets such as cookies, cakes, and yummy cobblers which were always full of sugars!

But…..now I have found a healthier way of  “baking my favorites.. and eating them too!” without  going overboard of course!

With the ingredients below, I can make cookies that are gluten free and “sweetened” with 100% real maple syrup which I have found when used in moderation actually has some pretty amazing health benefits!

When maple syrup is used in appropriate amounts it has nutrition benefits such as important antioxidants and minerals like zinc and manganese.  Its benefits can also include the ability to lower inflammation and better manage blood sugar.

Mama’s Maple Sweetened Cookies

Ingredients :

2 cups gluten free all-purpose baking flour

1 tsp Rumford baking powder

2 tsp vanilla extract

¼ cup coconut oil

¼ cup real maple syrup

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Sift together All purpose flour and baking soda

Melt Coconut oil and  add to the dry ingredients along with the vanilla extract and the maple syrup.

Mix well, dough will be pretty thick.

Drop cookies onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes depending on out crisp you like them.

Variations:  This cookie is much like a basic sugar cookie, you can add a variety of different ingredients to make different kinds of cookies, such a peanut butter, chocolate or cocoa, almond extract, walnuts, pecans, coconut flakes etc…the list can go on and on….
